My Costume Portfolio
Here is a sample of my work! I am familiar with skills like hand and machine sewing, drafting and draping patterns, alterations, and working with commercial patterns, and I'm always learning more!

01
Produced at ECU in the Spring semester of 2024, these are some process photos of April's costume. I modified two commercial patterns to build the jacket and drafted the sleeve pattern; the skirt was also a modified commercial pattern; costume design and rendering by Delta Childers-Smith, directed by Bryan Conger.
02
Once on this Island
Another East Carolina production, from Fall of 2023. Costume design by Delta Childers-Smith, directed by Lisanne Shaffer. I draped the jacket and drafted the sleeves. Decorative embroidery was done by Haley Grannon, myself, and students of the costume shop. In process shots by me, production photos by John Dixon.
03
Pride and Prejudice
In the Spring of 2023, ECU produced Pride and Prejudice; costume design by Delta Childers-Smith; directed by Bryan Conger. I draped the Spencer jacket, drafted the sleeve. In process shots by me; production photos by John Dixon.

Fine Finishings: A Class
In the fall of 2023 I took a class with Delta Childers-Smith in which I focused on learning fine, or couture, finishings. The skills I worked on were welt pockets, covered buttonholes, bias bound seams, zippers, pleats, and pintucks (plus a few more).

05
In the Winter of 2023, I decided to try to make a dress for a school Formal. In two days. I found a commerical pattern from the 1950s, some gorgeous fabric, and a new zest for creating.
06
Intimate Apparel
I got to assist in the build of an early 20th century corset in the fall of 2022 for ECU's production of Intimate Apparel. Jessica Crenshaw directed; designers were Delta Childers-Smith and Haley Grannon. I built the mock-up from Grannon's drafted pattern; I cut out the pieces for the final costume, serged the silk to the coutil, cut bias tape, and installed the boning channels. Progress photos by me, production photos by John Dixon.
07
Swing!
At East Carolina, in the Spring 2023, Tommi Galaska directed the musical revue Swing!, costume designed by Delta Childers-Smith. I assisted Haley Grannon with the construction of a "magic" dress that changed from a full one piece dress to a crop top and skirt on stage. Grannon drafted the pattern, I cut and put together the mock up, with several rounds of alterations.
08
Unrealized Designs
I took two Costume Design classes with Delta Childers-Smith, intro and advanced. We learned about costume history, how to draw the human form, and we designed several shows. The gallery shows them in the order I drew them, starting with a fairy tale which I rendered in colored pencil; then The 39 Steps, rendered in marker; and finally Once on this Island, rendered in water color.
